Parenthood and Gender Inequality

The issue of gender inequality exists throughout human history, it is presented worldwide. Inequality appeared at the very moment when men and women interacted for the first time. There are many causes of gender inequality; root causes lie in various psychological and sociological issues. Many scientific works are devoted to the evolution of such an issue. According to Freud, everyone moves through certain points in his or her understanding of gender, exploring sexuality, and understanding social features of gender, along with certain gender roles. Certain periods in our lives determine specific features of our gender identification, and these characteristics remain with us during the whole life. Kids often tend to reproduce their parents’ relations, based on their values and behavior (1905). Describing genders, Freud takes into account biological characteristics, determining man as a complete identity, and women as an identity that needs to compensate the lack of self-identification through marriage. Erik Erikson develops this idea (1905), stating that women’s psychology develops certain mechanisms that open it to men and their influence, in order to make a family and raise children.

Theory of evolution sheds more light on the issue of parenthood in the context of gender education, pointing out that certain features of male and female psychology formed genetically, adapting ancient people to a certain environment.
